Over the past few months I have concentrated on writing haiku. I have been rewarded with acceptance from several sources.

My initial poem was chosen by the Asahi Haikuist Network, a regularly occurring column in The Asahi Shimbun Digital publication, curated by David McMurray. The first of four haiku was published in the March 19, 2021 issue. I look forward to the publication of the other three works as well as any future haiku Mr. McMurray elects to include in his column.

In addition, a single haiku was included in the Cold Moon Journal on March 26, 2021, an online journal, by editor Roberta Beach Jacobson.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of participating in a large group (~ 50 participants) of poets reading haiku for National Haiku Poetry Day presented by the Moonstone Arts Center of Philadelphia. The same five haiku that I read during the virtual poetry reading will be printed in the Moonstone Arts Center Haiku 2021 Anthology.

Today, one of my haiku was read on the 100th episode of the Haiku Pea Podcast. This poem will also be published in the Poetry Pea Summer Journal that will be out late July, 2021.

This is just the beginning. I continue to learn more about the haiku writing practice and trust that my poetry will mature in the process.
