National Pollinators Month
June is National Pollinators Month, a great time to help the natural pollinators, bees, birds and bats, by planting native, non-invasive nectar and pollen-producing plants.
Beneficial plants are beautiful, and according to the National Wildlife Federation, they provide sustenance for the pollinators who are responsible for one out of every three bites we take!
What should go into your pollinator plot? (1) Bright, colorful, scented flowers, (2) a variety of plants that will bloom in different seasons to benefit the pollinators year long, (3) plants that welcome insects too, (4) bird attractions-bird seed and bird houses, and (5) water sources for all of the pollinators.
Please enjoy a sample poem from my book, Almanac: The Four Seasons, that celebrates pollinators.
