April is Spring

Carolina Jasmine & Siberian Iris

Spring is a time for new growth. For this writer that means two things. One I will be busy in the garden; two I will be searching for fresh stimuli for my poetry.

Today my focus was planting. We upgraded a small trellis garden by installing a climbing Carolina Jasmine. In the foreground is a pair of Siberian Iris clusters; their variegated green-white foliage will be accented by violet flowers. Just beginning to peek from the soil is a ring of daffodils surrounding the irises. A beautiful composition in form and complimentary colors.

April is also Poetry Month. There are multiple opportunities for writing. One of my favorites is the Writer’s Digest PAD (Poem-a-Day) Challenge, a Poetry Prompt series by poet Robert Lee Brewer.

How will you celebrate April and spring?
